TRASH TASTE

BY ETHAN AVISON

OVERVIEW

Introducing Trash Taste, a little pet project of my own starting back in 2021. Growing up in the 90s, I’ve always had an for graphic t-shirts, and when like all trends they made a come back then I took the opportunity to start my little brain child idea. Trash Taste Tees was how it all started, importing secondhand t-shirts from the USA. Why the US and not New Zealand do you ask, well the states is home to many of the original graphics we all love and they tend to be more of a fast fashion country. So why not keep these t-shirts out of their landfills.

While I enjoyed running Trash Taste, I have temporarily put a hold on this project to focus on others. But I do have big plans for Trash Taste in the future so watch this space.

THE BRAND

The name is derived from an old phrase many have used for years, “one persons trash is another’s treasure”. Another phrased used is “you have good taste”, which is usually applied to your style. So in this instance “one persons trash is another’s taste”, hence the name was born. I’m also a fan of catchy names.

When creating a logo I didn’t want to take away from the products we were selling, while simple the logo icon symbolises a t-shirt made up of the two T’s in the name.

Here is an overview of the design work carried out by myself for the Trash Taste brand.
